photo: The Eagle in the tree across the street
The Eagle
I awaken in the morning with my sunglasses on
Leap from sheets around cloud-covers
beneath dreams of lovers, Eagle-talk speaking
Squeaking metal on metal, he raves
breaking rhythms of beta waves
Sleeping tree limbs worn from talons cupped
Screeching, Hey, Chickadee - I'm up!
Casting shadows on dropped chins, he wins
in white hat topped on feather cropped gown
shaking hollow bones around decaying flesh
Fresh, awakening under dark eyes sallowed
My guize breaking down
at dawn ~ with my sunglasses on
